The Department of Human Resource Development strives to help Tribal families and individuals achieve self-sufficiency by providing support, compassion, hope, and guidance. Support is given through sustenance income, child care, parenting, food, employment, training, counseling, life planning, and transportation as they transition to a more stable environment.

Eligibility
A paper application for financial assistance is available at the DHRD Office, or online at the CSKT.org website. The applicant is able to select a number of services available, including temporary Cash Assistance (for a family including children) or for single individuals. When the application is received, it is forwarded by the DHRD front desk to the Program Director. A letter is sent to the applicant, requesting that certain eligibility documents be collected, and asking the applicant to contact the DHRD office to request an intake appointment with a caseworker.
The intake appointment must be attended by the applicant in person with the assigned caseworker, and identification documents provided by the applicant must include:
- birth certificates for all household members;
- Tribal enrollment verification;
- social security card copies;
- picture identification;
- verification of residency;
- and for family cash assistance, verification that the minor children are in public school or that they’re being home-schooled
The applicant for family cash assistance must also apply for child support enforcement services so the legal parent(s) can be found and their child support obligation established and enforced.
Example: Do services extend to non-members or members only?
A household applying for family Cash Assistance must include one enrolled member of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes. A single person applying for Cash Assistance must be an enrolled member of a federally recognized Tribe. All eligible applicants must reside within the exterior boundaries of the Flathead Indian Reservation.
Are there financial requirements that must be met to qualify?
The Cash Assistance program follows the current Federal Poverty guidelines to determine eligibility.

We can place you at a work experience job site to receive training and experience.
Do you provide daycare for the kids if I will be required to do training?
We will make a referral to the Child Care Block Grant Program so you will receive assistance with child care costs.
Who is eligible for your services?
Our cash assistance is available to low income families raising their biological children, to help them meet their basic needs for food, shelter and living expenses, as long as a parent or a child in the household is an enrolled member of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes. We also serve children who are being cared for by a relative, as long as the child is an enrolled member of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes. We provide cash assistance to low income adults who are involved in training, education or who are applying for social security benefits based upon their physical limitations. All households must meet the income and residency requirements.
