The Department of Human Resource Development strives to help Tribal families and individuals achieve self-sufficiency by providing support, compassion, hope, and guidance. Support is given through sustenance income, child care, parenting, food, employment, training, counseling, life planning, and transportation as they transition to a more stable environment.

Eligibility
Dire Need is for Emergencies, an emergency is a situation that poses an immediate risk to health, life, property, or environment beyond an individual’s control. Dire Need will assist on a 1-time basis, reoccurring failure to pay bills will be monitored and will be denied.
- Must be an enrolled member of CSKT
- Must live on the Confederated Salish & Kootenai Tribes (CSKT) reservation
- Must have applied for other resources before coming to Dire Need
- Must have attempted to make payment arrangements against past due bills
- Must provide income for the past 30 days (Child Support, GA, TANF, Employment)
- Must apply or currently receiving assistance from other assistance programs (ie. electricity must apply or be on LIHEAP, food must apply or be on SNAP or Commodities)
Assistance is based on the household not the individual.
Telephone assistance is by a doctor’s statement
Funeral travel need verification on the deceased. Multi family request family of the deceased by coordinate travel arrangements.
