Our Work
The Kootenai Culture Committee is housed in the cultural center (Ksanka Hall) of the Ksanka community. We provide a place to gather for a wide variety of cultural events and meetings. Holiday dinners, stickgames, powwows, as well as family gatherings (reunions, etc.) can all be scheduled at the Hall and KCC will notify community members of upcoming events.
Elder Advisory Board meetings take place at the Hall (in addition to a Zoom link since COVID) where the Ksanka elders offer cultural input into projects for tribal and non-tribal programs. CSKT departments and any outside entity can submit an <> and either appear in person or via zoom.
KCC staff is available to assist community members with a variety of needs including assistance with applications for other tribal programs or helping distribute food for Food Sovereignty etc. The staff organizes family and culture nights and a variety of camps and activities that promote family and community togetherness.

Ksanka Language Program
The Ksanka language is complex and the Ksanka Language Apprentices have continued to advance their knowledge and use of the language by participating in classes with the KCC Linguist/the Advances Apprentices are prepared to mentor a new group of Beginner Apprentices in the New Year.

Accessing Services
KCC staff are available during regular working hours (Mon-Thu: 7-5:30) for assistance with applications or other work related issues. Monthly meetings with the Ksanka Elders Advisory Committee occur on the second Wednesday of each month and agenda requests may be submitted to Danielle.Lefthand@cskt.org or Gina.Bigbeaver@cskt.org. The monthly meetings are in person and are also available on Zoom if preferred.
