Small update: Mission Creek’s flow temporarily slowed down to more typical output for this time of year (~200 cfs), due to technical difficulty with spill gates this morning. FIIP’s team and CSKT SOD successfully addressed the situation, so Mission Creek’s flow will return to minor flooding stage. Post Creek remains at a similar minor flood stage level (300 – 400 cubic feet per second), but did not experience the temporary shift that Mission Creek underwent.
Nearby residents and emergency responders have been updated: The following message was sent out this morning by Lake County Office of Emergency Management to residents along Mission Creek and forwarded to emergency response by CSKT DES: “Residents in the Mission Creek area are being advised that flow rates will be fluctuating on Mission Creek due to water control actions and will be running higher than normal. Please stay away from Mission Creek and fast-moving water. This is a message from the Lake County Office of Emergency Management.”
Current/Future weather outlook: This storm is sitting above us and not expected to move north until Monday evening, so we will continue to receive precipitation. According to the National Weather Service Office in Missoula, current storm predictions show St. Ignatius toward the ridge of the Mission Mountains receiving between .04” to 1.90” from Sunday morning to Monday evening (the next 36 hours). So, we will continue to monitor the situation and stay in touch as developments arise.
If anyone experiences impacts from this storm, please notify 911 if it’s an emergency; but, if you or someone you know experience minor flooding or other effects and can update me and share photos, that is most appreciated.
