21. Alternative sentencing includes a variety of methods that are not jail/prison, such as probation, community service, fines, treatment, and restorative justice programs. The goal is to rehabilitate offenders, reduce recidivism (re-arrests), and keep people integrated into society. Restorative justice aims to address the harm caused by a crime and hold the offender accountable, while also addressing the underlying causes of the crime. Do you support alternative sentencing or restorative justice as part of the Tribal judicial system?
