The Timber Sales program is made up of foresters, sale administrators, and forestry technicians and aids. Our purpose is to treat forested lands on the reservation based on an ecosystem management approach. The idea is to have a management strategy that is most suitable for tribal preservation, forest health, wildlife habitat, healthy watersheds, and fire-maintained forest structures. We prepare and implement timber sales to achieve the goals of the CSKT Forest Management Plan.
We prepare and advertise timber sales that are tribal member preference sales. This gives priority to CSKT tribal loggers. However, if no tribal members bid on the timber sale, non-members have a chance to be awarded the timber sale.
